College is hard. Four short years in which you're supposed to decide what to do with your life all while figuring out who you are, making new friends, learning to adult and trying not to fail next week's exam.
My husband and I help lead the college ministry at our church and this past week I was talking with one of our students who was feeling anxious and overwhelmed with all that life is throwing at her. While encouraging her to look up specific scriptures that applied to her situation, ones that would speak truth and encouragement into her life, Philippians 4:8 came to mind.
"Finally brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-think on such things."
I was reminded once again that it is for these girls that I am writing, for all the reasons listed above that make college so exciting and hard and wonderful all at the same time. I want my books to offer them truth, to show what is noble and right and pure in this life. To encourage them as they run the race and seek to become the women God has called them to be.
