5 Great Books to Read on Spring Break

5 Great Books to Read on Spring Break

I got my first speeding ticket while coming home for Spring Break my junior year of college. To make it even better it was my old high school resource officer who pulled me over on one of the main roads in my hometown for all to see. Now, you may be thinking that with it being the start of Spring Break I was just eager to get home to start out on some epic road-trip or beach vacation planned with friends. Nope. I was headed to the library :)

By the time Spring Break rolled around every year, my introverted self was craving some major alone time! On my way home I'd stop by the library, then spend the first few days of break hiding away in my room where I'd alternate between napping and reading ALL the fiction books I didn't have time to read while at school. Pure bliss.

But not just any books. To make up for all the academic mumbo jumbo I'd been filling my brain with, Spring break reads needed to be 1 of 3 things: lighthearted, adventurous, or romantic. Preferably all three. With Virginia Tech's Spring Break just around the corner I thought I'd round up some recent reads that are perfect for lazing away the day. Enjoy!

1. To Get To You by Joanne Bischof

What better book to read on Spring Break than one that features an eighteen-year-old road tripping from California to New Mexico in order to get to the girl he loves?! Adventure, romance, and second chances make this a great read.

2. Submerged (Alaskan Courage Book #1) by Dani Pettrey

Can you get more adventurous than deep-sea diving in Alaska? Throw in a sabotaged plane, murder investigation and one hunky hero and you're all set. In case that's not enough adventure for you, the next 4 books in the series feature rock climbing, snowboarding, adventure excursions, and a search-and-rescue team for the Iditarod race. Bonus: Submerged is currently free on Kindle if you're a Prime member! (If you're a fan of Dee Henderson then you'll love Dani's books!)

3. That's When I Knew [A Love at First Laugh Novella] by Laurie Tomlinson

My writer friend Laurie Tomlinson's novella, That's When I Knew, is part of this light-hearted romance collection. Featuring childhood sweethearts thrown together in a mini road trip in order to save her career, what could possibly go wrong? I laughed my way through the heroines relatable mishaps, and cheered for her happily-ever after. Bonus: Love at FIrst Laugh releases next Monday. Pre-order now for only $0.99!)

4. Beguiled by Deeanne Gist and J. Mark Bertrand

Set in Charleston, S.C. (my favorite Southern town!) Beguiled features one spunky dog-walker, a swoon-worthy journalist, a bit of mystery and a whole lot of sizzle. Perfect for any beach read!

5. There You'll Find Me by Jenny B. Jones

I don't typically read YA, but I love Jenny's sassy, fun characters! With a study-abroad trip to Ireland and Hollywood's teen bad-boy as the hero, There You'll Find Me is an entertaining read perfect for a little Spring Break day-dreaming.

How do you like to spend your Spring Break? Holed-away reading or out on an adventure?

*I received a copy of Love at First Laugh for free. All opinions are my own.
