Sweet on You: A Book Review
Can Britt Bradford let go of control and allow herself to fully rely on the Lord, and her best friend, Zander?
Here’s what you can expect:
”Britt Bradford and Zander Ford have been the best of friends since they met thirteen years ago. Unbeknown to Britt, Zander has been in love with her for just as long.
Independent and adventurous Britt channels her talent into creating chocolates at her hometown shop. Zander is a bestselling author who's spent the past 18 months traveling the world. He's achieved a great deal but still lacks the only thing that ever truly mattered to him--Britt's heart.
When Zander's uncle dies of mysterious causes, he returns to Merryweather, Washington, to investigate, and Britt is immediately there to help. Although this throws them into close proximity, both understand that an attempt at romance could jeopardize their once-in-a-lifetime friendship. But while Britt is determined to resist any change in their relationship, Zander finds it increasingly difficult to keep his feelings hidden.
As they work together to uncover his uncle's tangled past, will the truth of what lies between them also, finally, come to light?” - From the back cover copy
It’s hard to write a series where each book captures your heart and imagination as much as the first, but Becky Wade has done just that in Sweet on You—the conclusion to her Bradford Sisters Romance series. With a familiar cast of characters, and a few new ones, Sweet on You feels like cozying up in a chair to chat with your best friend over chocolate and cappuccinos. With just the right amount of mystery and action, I was pulled into the story from the start. Becky has once again created a wide cast of relatable, multi-faceted characters whose flaws highlight the Lord’s forgiveness and faithfulness.
Britt Bradford is a modern, capable heroine, and I related to her need for self-independence. Her journey of learning to rely on the Lord and not her own strength was one I understood well. Wade expertly writes deeper truths into her novels, that come across as genuine and not preachy. And let’s not forget the wounded and faithful hero, Zander Ford! I’ve always been a sucker for stories of best friends turned lovers. Overall, Sweet on You is as rich and complex as the chocolates Britt makes in her shop.
If you like brooding literary heroes, strong family ties, art heist mysteries, and all things chocolate, then I’d highly recommend Sweet on You!
